Prevent street sewer waste from backflowing into basements or low areas with the backwater valve. Valve is lightweight and easy to install. Horizontal installation required; arrows on valve hub point in the direction of water flow.

  • Backwater valves have a quick action flapper to allow unrestricted uni-directional flow
  • NDS offers 2 in. – 6 in. PVC or ABS backwater valves and 4 in. PVC or ABS diverter valves
  • Backwater valves are a chemically resistant alternative to cast iron valves
  • Diverter valves direct flow one-way to individual or multiple septic tank leach fields; valve stem is used to divert flow through limited outlets - remove stem to allow flow through all outlets
  • Both backwater and diverter valves are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)

Applications

  • Use backwater valves for low basement areas and sewage system installations; works with most DWV pipe to transport waste and prevent backflow in pressurized systems

  • Use diverter valves for septic tank leach fields and sewage system installations

Installation & Maintenance

  • Backwater valve has two ends that connect to DWV pipe; need solvent cement to keep in place

  • Diverter valve has four ends that connect to sewer and drain pipe; need solvent cement to keep in place

  • Valve performance issues can indicate damage or clogging; service or replace as needed

Materials & Sustainability

  • Both backwater and diverter valves are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)

  • Backwater valve flapper gasket is made of elastomeric material; access cap gasket is made of neoprene material

  • Onsite flow management protects pipe systems from backflow which can lead to corrosion of pipes, property damage, and issues with the flow system
